What is Plesk Obsidian
One of commonly used control panels is Plesk 18 which is also called Obsidian. Plesk Obsidian is now release candidate.
The panel brings some advanced features and support for lots of technologies. For instance, Plesk Advisor will check your server and website environments every now and then, and tell if everything is secured and optimized.
There are four editions to choose from:
- Web Admin SE (available only at Amazon);
- Web Admin Edition for personal sites and small enterprise;
- Web Pro Edition for professional developers with many clients;
- Plesk Web Host Edition for hosting companies.

How to Install Plesk Obsidian
To start your experience with Obsidian you need a license and a distributive which can be acquired right on this page. Before installing the panel, ensure your server meets Plesk Obsidian requirements. Obsidian is available for Windows and Linux, and installation processes are different, albeit quite simple in both cases.
Windows. Using RPD log in to the server and upload your plesk-installer.exe file to it. With Windows command prompt launch the installation via the command: plesk-installer.exe --select-product-id=panel --select-release-latest --installation-type=recommended.
Linux. Using SSH log in to the server as a ‘root’ user and execute the command: # sh <(curl https://autoinstall.plesk.com/one-click-installer || wget -O - https://autoinstall.plesk.com/one-click-installer).
Installation process is fully automatic and usually takes 30—60 minutes on average. During the process, the latest release is downloaded to the server. Once finished, you need to set up before the first launch: enter your name, email, and password.
